The following are new and revised CPT codes that are effective in 2012. CPT
Code 92605 has been revised for 2012 in the official CPT description. Code 92618 is new for 2012. It is a resequenced code and will not display in numeric order.
New & Revised Codes
- 92605 Evaluation for prescription of non-speech-generating augmentative and alternative communication device, face-to-face with the patient; first hour.
- 92618 Evaluation for prescription of non-speech-generating augmentative and alternative communication device, face-to-face with the patient; each additional 30 minutes (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
- 96110 Developmental screening, with interpretation and report, per standardized instrument form.
- 96111 Developmental testing, (includes assessment of motor, language, social, adaptive, and/or cognitive functioning by standardized developmental instruments) with interpretation and report.
The assessment for the appropriate non-speech-generating augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device is highly variable and dependent on the patient's age, ability, and motivation. Motor skills, hearing, vision, cognitive abilities, language comprehension, and general health are evaluated to determine the suitability of a high-tech or low-tech device. Once these are evaluated, an appropriate AAC device is prescribed. Report 92605 for the first hour spent face-to-face with the patient. Report 92618 for each additional 30 minutes
